A Sagamore Wedding with Style, Sugar, & Sweatpants
September 7th honestly felt like it was made just for Maggie and Ryan. Low 70s, blue skies, sunshine, and a perfect breeze that keeps you cool but doesn’t ruin your hair. If you’ve ever been to The Sagamore in Bolton Landing, you know the views already do half the work. And if you know Maggie and Ryan, you know their wedding was never going to be just beautiful. It was going to be stylish, a little unexpected, and a whole lot of fun.
(Spoiler: it absolutely delivered.)
The day kicked off in the Empire Room with Maggie and her girls. Picture champagne glasses, laughter, and the moment Maggie stepped into the dress: buttons trailing all the way down the back, and the bow of all bows. Truly iconic.
Ryan saw it all for the first time on the third-floor veranda, and his face was pure “I hit the jackpot.” Honestly, it could have been a movie scene. Lake George behind them, sunshine everywhere, and two people absolutely glowing.
And then, just when the world felt like it stopped spinning, Maggie and Ryan read their private vows to each other. No crowd, no pressure, just the two of them promising forever with the Adirondacks as their witness. It was intimate, emotional, and the perfect balance to the big celebration that followed.
On at Surroundings Floral Studio completely crushed it. Maggie’s bouquet was honestly the fluffiest bouquet I have ever seen. It was a dreamy cloud made of white and peach dahlias, soft green hydrangeas, classic white roses, lilies, and amaranthus trailing perfectly. Her bridesmaids carried smaller versions that popped against their pale yellow satin dresses, which felt light, fresh, and so perfectly late-summer. Ryan’s boutonnière was a single lily that tied everything together in the most elegant way.
Oh, and did I mention Maggie plans weddings for a living? She is a wedding planner at a hotel in Vail, Colorado. Which explains why everything flowed smoother than a perfect pour of champagne. The details were on point and the timing was flawless, but it never felt “too much.” It was effortlessly gorgeous with a side of laid-back cool.
The Sagamore’s lakeside ceremony spot is already a 10 out of 10. Guests had cool paper parasols for shade, and Maggie and her wedding party made their entrance at 4:30pm, walking the entire grand walkway from the resort down to the water. With the breeze coming off the lake and everyone watching, it was such a dramatic and beautiful entrance. The wind even had its own cameo. Veils flying, dresses swishing, parasols dancing in the air. Instead of messing anything up, it made the whole thing feel alive and cinematic.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the lawn and on the terrace while the sun dipped low behind the resort. In the middle of the mingling and clinking glasses, Maggie and Ryan slipped aside to sign their marriage license. The scene was magic: the two of them with the Adirondack sunset glowing behind them, officially sealing the deal on paper while everyone cheered from nearby and coincidentally, "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" played in the background. It was such a sweet, candid moment and one of those little memories that made the day feel extra special.
111 of their closest people filled the reception space, and it was buzzing from the start. Green and white patterned linens made the room feel lively and fresh, and every table looked like it belonged in a magazine. First up, the cake: vintage vibes with “The Beauregards” in swoopy script on top. Then came the dessert table, which was basically its own main character. Guests circled it all night, and there was something sweet for everyone.
Right after, we headed to the dock for portraits as the sky turned golden pink. The water was calm, boats drifted by in the distance, and Maggie and Ryan had those quiet, just-married moments where the world felt like it belonged to them. Honestly, those dock photos are the kind you frame in your living room forever.
Then came the ultimate power move. Mid-reception, Maggie and Ryan ditched their wedding finery and came back out in matching sweats with “Mrs. Beauregard” and “Mr.” stamped across the front. Sweatpants. Sweatshirts. At a Sagamore wedding. And it was such a vibe. Everyone went wild. The dance floor exploded, and it was like the whole party got a second wind.
That's the thing about this wedding. It was stunning, yes, but it was also just so Maggie and Ryan. A little bit classic, a little bit cheeky, all wrapped up in sunshine and good energy. From private balcony vows to parasols at the lake to sunset dock portraits to sweatpants on the dance floor, it was one of those days you will never forget.
