Beating the Heat & Tying the Knot
at the Mansion at Oyster Bay
Last summer, I was incredibly fortunate and pumped to photograph Jimmy and Chelsea's wedding in upstate New York. Little did I know, Chelsea's cousin, Kaleigh, would be tying the knot the following summer! I was once again incredibly fortunate and pumped to be chosen to photograph their wedding, too!
Fast forward to this past weekend, and Kaleigh and Kevin said "I do!" in front of 150 of their closest friends and family on Long Island. The day was filled with the kind of joyful energy that only comes from being surrounded by loved ones, and boy, was it hot, with temperatures soaring into the 90s and humidity that made it feel like we were in Florida. But that was all part of the charm because Kaleigh and Kevin, who live in Miami, had chosen a tropical theme for their wedding, bringing a slice of their sunny home to the Northeast.
The Mansion at Oyster Bay, with its classic architecture and expansive grounds, was the perfect setting for their vision of a tropical paradise. Kaleigh and Kevin went all out to create this vibe, bringing in palm trees that added a touch of the tropics to the elegant setting. These towering trees, paired with vibrant floral arrangements and centerpieces, transformed the venue into an oasis that made guests feel like they had been transported to a far-off island, right in the heart of Long Island.
Despite the heat, Kaleigh and Kevin were the picture of cool, calm, and collected. Their day started with an intimate first look on the beautifully landscaped grounds of the Mansion. The moment they saw each other, under the shade of the palm trees they had brought in, was filled with joy and excitement—a perfect reflection of their deep love and the anticipation of the day ahead. We captured so many photos, both digitally and on instant film, making sure every last moment was documented.
As the evening approached, the reception became a lively celebration that truly embodied Kaleigh and Kevin’s fun-loving spirits. The dance floor quickly became the heart of the party, with guests joining in on the excitement as the couple brought out a money gun, adding a playful twist to the festivities. The energy was electric, and the dance floor stayed packed all night, with everyone dancing under the glow of the tropical decor.
Congratulations again, Kaleigh & Kevin!
