Second shot for Jenelle Kappe Photography

Some weddings have that extra bit of magic—and Hannah & Thomas’ wedding at Fox and Bear Lodge had it in spades. Nestled in the woods of Glenwood (part of Vernon, NJ), this charming venue felt like a secluded escape into nature, even on the rainiest of fall days.

And rainy it was. The forecast called for steady showers, and the skies delivered. But instead of dampening the mood, the rain made the day feel cozy, intimate, and even a little enchanted. From the misty mountain views to guests huddled under umbrellas, it was the kind of weather that brings people closer—and creates unexpectedly beautiful photo moments.

The florals were an absolute dream. A soft variety of pastels brought warmth and color to the day, and I was especially excited to see dahlias woven throughout—the star of the show in my book. Their layered petals and soft tones popped perfectly against the moody skies and earthy greens of the lodge surroundings.

As a second shooter for Jenelle Kappe Photography, I had the chance to capture the quiet in-between moments: Hannah slipping into her dress, stolen glances during the ceremony, the way guests laughed under covered porches. And then, just as the day neared its end, the skies parted.

A rainbow stretched across the sky, followed by a golden, glowing sunset that wrapped the entire day in light. It felt like a reward for their optimism and grace throughout the rain—proof that sometimes, the most beautiful moments come after the storm.

Fox and Bear Lodge was the perfect setting for it all. With its natural charm and tucked-away feel, it created a day that felt deeply personal, warm, and connected—rain and all.
