The Best Wedding Witnesses: Adirondack High Peaks and Kayakers on Mirror Lake
Allie and Chip’s summer wedding at Smoke Signals in Lake Placid was the perfect mixture of love, laughter, and laidback charm. It was one of those days where everything felt just right—beautiful weather, a stunning lakeside venue, and two people (and one nugget) who were clearly meant to be together.
The day began with the most relaxed vibe, just as Allie and Chip had envisioned. They chose Smoke Signals for its rustic, cozy atmosphere and its incredible location right on the edge of Mirror Lake. This place was more than just a venue; it was a reflection of their personalities—warm, welcoming, and full of life. From the moment I arrived, I could tell this was going to be a special day. The Adirondack backdrop, with its towering mountains and placid waters, set the stage for a stunning wedding.
The ceremony took place on the shores of Mirror Lake, in Smoke Signals backyard, a spot that felt like magic in its natural beauty. With the Adirondacks framing the scene, Allie walked down the aisle toward Chip, who couldn’t stop smiling. The sun danced off the water while they exchanged their vows and said "I do."
After the ceremony, we headed to Smoke Signals' deck for the cocktail hour. Instead of doing standard, planned toasts, they allowed anyone and everyone to make a toast in front of the entire wedding. Inside, the warm, rustic interior provided a cozy contrast to the bright, sunlit ceremony outside. Guests were treated to a BBQ feast that perfectly matched the venue’s vibe—think ribs, brisket, and all the comfort food you could imagine.
As the sun began to set, we took some absolutely stunning photos by the lake. The sunset over Mirror Lake was nothing short of spectacular, with hues of orange, pink, and purple reflecting off the still water. Allie and Chip took a quiet moment away from the festivities to enjoy the view, their silhouettes beautifully framed against the colorful sky.
